Was I convicted of a crime?
When I was 16 I was charged for possession of a narcotic. I was called down to the police station. I was charged and fingerprinted. I was not kept in a holding cell, didn't have to come up with bail or anything like that and I was not placed under arrest. I did however attend court. I was placed on probation for one year and that ended before my eighteenth birthday. I live in Canada and the law says that your record is sealed when you turn 18 unless you were actually convicted then it can sometimes stay on your record for a certain amount of years. From my understanding I wasn't convicted but no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer. Some people think I was and others don't. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
